Police arrest five suspected criminals with weapons in Delta

The suspects will be charged to court after a thorough investigation.

Operatives of the Delta State command, during three different operations on Tuesday and Wednesday, arrested a suspect for cultism and four others for alleged armed robbery.

Spokesperson for the command, Bright Edafe, in a statement on Friday, said that weapons were also found in the possession of the nabbed suspects.

Mr Edafe said, “Acting on credible intelligence related to cult activities within Ibusa Town, on 10/09/2025, operatives of CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) trailed and arrested one Oluwatobi Olugbemi, 29 years, a native of Ikenne – Remo community in Ijebu – Ode LGA of Ogun State but resident at Ogboli quarters of Ibusa town.

“A search warrant was executed at his residence, during which a Beretta pistol loaded with one round of ammunition was recovered. Suspect confessed to being a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity AKA “ARROW BARGER”. Investigation is ongoing.”

Mr Edafe also disclosed that operatives of Safe Delta, during surveillance patrol along DBS road, on Tuesday, sighted a group of boys fighting and engaging in Affray, with one of them holding a cutlass.

He said, “The operatives swiftly went to the scene and, in the process, arrested Raphael Chukwuemeka M’, aged 23 years, with one cut-to-size Double Barrel Pistol with seven live cartridges recovered from him. The suspect was taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.”

The police spokesperson also disclosed that the same operatives, “while on stop and search duty at Head bridge Asaba, on 10/09/2025, at about 1030 hours, intercepted three young men, namely Solomon Offor ‘m’, aged 22yrs, Ifesinachi Nwankeze ‘m,’ aged 19yrs and Ambrose Ugwuba ‘m’, aged 23yrs.

“Upon search of the suspects and the motorcycle, a locally made single-barreled cut-to-size gun, cartridges and a dagger concealed in a bag were recovered. Suspects are in custody while the investigation is ongoing.”
