Police arrest five suspected thugs in Minna

The Niger State police command says arrested five suspected thugs and recovered dangerous weapons and suspected cannabis in Tunga, Minna, the state capital.

A statement by on Tuesday by the command’s spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspects were arrested on July 20, 2026 at about 5: a.m.

“On 20th July 2026 at about 5am, police operatives of Tudun-Wada Div conducted a sting operation around Sabon-Titi area of Tunga Minna,” he said.

He identified the suspects as, Shamsudeen Khalid, Danjuma Abubakar, Aminu Usman, Lukman Imam and Ibrahim Abubakar of all Sabon-Titi residents in Tunga Minna.

Mr Abiodun noted that exhibits such as a bag containing suspected cannabis, two knives, three cutlasses and two other dangerous weapons were recovered.

“During interrogation, the suspects claimed that these items were arranged for Maulud celebration and they usually engaged in a fight with Tunga-Maje boys in the area,” he said. 

He added that the suspects were under further investigation.
