The police command in Niger State said it arrested four armed robbery suspects and recovered stolen items.

This is contained in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, on Tuesday in Minna.

Abiodun explained that on September 6, at about 4.00a.m, the ‘B’ Division, Suleja, received information that there was a robbery attack behind a filling station in Suleja.

He stated that when police patrol team attached to the division moved to the scene, the victim was found injured on the head and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

The command’s spokesperson said the robbers had escaped from the scene before police arrival.

He stated, “The victim reported that the robbery gang numbering about ten invaded his house, attacked him, carted away over seven phones, one plasma TV, solar panels and other items. The police operatives commenced investigation through technical intelligence, and four suspects were arrested in connection with the incident.’’

According to him, the suspects are Umar Abubakar, 24; Ibrahim Lawali, 18; Sirajo Musa, 25; and Adamu Lawal, 25.

He said one of the suspects, Lawal, was arrested with 12 automated teller machine (ATM) cards, claiming that he picked them at a waste dump, while Musa left his slippers at the scene.

He added, “In the process of returning to pick it up, he was identified and arrested. Lawali was found with two other ATM cards, while Umar Abubakar was found with a cutlass and mentioned other members of the syndicate as Aminu, Mubarak, Small, Goje and Dan-acha. The plasma TV was also recovered from where it was abandoned.’’

He disclosed that the suspects had been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, while efforts to arrest others were ongoing.
