Police arrest four for alleged trespass, property theft in Katsina

Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have nabbed four suspects for allegedly terrorising residents of Kwado, Kamabarawa, trespassing their houses and carting away their property.
Spokesperson for the command, Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
Mr Aliyu said the command, “successfully burst a syndicate that specializes in house trespass and theft, terrorising Kwado, Kamabarawa, behind NYSC orientation camp areas, and environs, arresting four (4) suspects and recovering suspected stolen items.”
He stated that a good Samaritan reported suspicious movement by some persons around the Kado area, to the GRA Division via phone call on Friday, at about 10:16 p.m., on Friday.
The command, upon receiving the report, dispatched operatives to the area where they, “arrested two (2) suspects, namely, (1) Lawal Hamza alias Honourable, m, age 28, of Saulawa quarters, (2) Nafi’u Sanusi, m, age 33, of GRA, all in Katsina metropolis.”
He stated that one operational tricycle of the syndicate, one mattress, one LG 55′ inches coloured plasma TV, one refrigerator and a bunch of keys, all suspected to have been stolen, were recovered from the nabbed suspects.
According to Mr Aliyu, during the investigation, one Muhammad Lawal, of Saulawa quarters, came forward to claim ownership of the recovered stolen items, thereby facilitating the investigation.
Stating that the nabbed suspects confessed committing the offence and further mentioned one Abdulrahman Sama’ila, m, now at large, as their accomplice, Mr Aliyu said, upon receiving the report, detectives were detailed for a discrete investigation into the case, which led to the arrest of, “one Binta Ibrahim, f, age 37, of Sabuwar Unguwa, Kofar Kaura quarters, Katsina, in possession of some of the reported stolen items.”
He said. “During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having received the stolen items from one Lawal Hamza, alias Honourable, also involved in the case above, who happens to be the ringleader of the syndicate.”
The spokesperson stated that efforts were being intensified to recover the stolen items, some of which had been recovered, noting that investigation was ongoing.
