Police arrest man for kidnapping father in Adamawa

The Adamawa Police Command, in collaboration with local security stakeholders, arrested a man for allegedly kidnapping his biological father in Jera village in Malabu District, Fufore Local Government Area.
SP Suleiman Nguroje, the command’s spokesperson, said in a statement on Tuesday that two others were also arrested.
He said the success was recorded due to the command’s sustained fight against kidnapping and related violent crimes, following coordinated, intelligence-led operations.
“Sequel to the recent kidnapping activities that led to the abduction of Alhaji Ahmadu in Malabu on January 30 and in compliance with the directives of the commissioner of police, CP Morris Dankombo, to intensify operations against criminal elements.
“A joint coordinated operation comprising police operatives and members of the Miyetti-Allah was carried out at a suspected kidnappers’ hideout located at Jera village in Malabu District, Fufore LGA,” he stated.
According to him, during the operation, the team apprehended Lawali Haruna, 45, Yahaya Ibrahim, 25, and Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu, 28, all residents of Jera in Fufore LGA.
“More worrisome, one of the suspects happened to be the biological son of the victim, and all three suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime.
“While efforts are ongoing to rescue the victim unhurt and apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate, the suspects are in custody while investigations continue,” he said.
Mr Nguroje said the CP commended the synergy between the police and local security outfit, reassuring residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
He urged members of the public to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information.
