Notorious jailbreaker Tosin Ikuemolo, who had been declared wanted by the police in Ondo state, has been re-arrested.

Mr Ikuemolo, 22, was apprehended on Monday at Igbokoda in Ilaje local government area of the state by the anti-crime section of the state police command.

The culprit, who is also a cult member of the Aiye confraternity, was nabbed after escaping from the Nigerian correctional centre in Owo.

Peoples Gazette learned that the culprit, who had been awaiting trial for six months, had escaped from remand twice.

Spokesperson for the Ondo police, Funmilayo Odunlami, paraded the suspect before journalists at the command headquarters on Monday evening.

Ms Odunlami said the culprit is a “serial killer”, who had earlier escaped from the correctional centre, Owo, sometime in March.

“It will be recalled that 4G network (Ikuemola) was arrested and arraigned in Court for Cultism/Murder and remanded at Owo Correctional Centre but escaped from custody in March 2022 during a jailbreak,” she said.

“Immediately, the DPO (Divisional Police Officer) and his men went after him and he was re-arrested in a soak away,” Ms Odunlami added.

She, however, assured that the culprit would be arraigned back to court immediately.

Meanwhile, the suspect has narrated how he carried out his criminal act.

Mr Ikuemola, who spoke during an interrogation with journalists, explained that he escaped from the prison facility with the help of other inmates.

“Myself and the other inmates, who were cult members in the same group escaped and they had been planning it before I came to join them in prison.

“Seven of us escaped after we had dug the pipe of the toilet. It was the Hausa guy among us who knows how to dig that helped us to escape,” he added.

Otherwise known as “4G network” among his cult group, Mr Ikuemola confessed that he was planning to kill those who mocked him while on trial before he was apprehended.

“I have killed three people who are rival cult members too but I was trying to locate those that mocked me when in court when I was arrested by the police again,” he said.
