Police arrest Ogun pastor over alleged sexual abuse

The Ogun State Police Command has detained a pastor of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church identified only as Sunday for allegedly giving fake prophecies and abducting a 21-year-old lady identified as Blessing Aliu.
According to the police, the victim went to the church located in the Agbado area of the state to see her sick sister when the pastor told her that if she refused to have sex with him she would die on her wedding day.
The police also stated that the suspect was accused of saying that any guy who attempted to engage in sexual activity with her other than him would likewise perish.
After the purported deception and fake prophecies, the prophet was said to have seized the victim on February 2, 2023, and whisked her away to an undisclosed location, causing the family to panic.
Following over seven months of the alleged abduction, the victim’s uncle, Aliu Yusuf, was said to have reported to the police that the family was shocked when Blessing, who returned home on November 5, 2023, narrated how Sunday took her to his family house in Ilaro, Ogun State and subsequently to a hotel, where he allegedly had multiple and unconsented sexual intercourse with her.
Speaking on the pastor’s arrest on Tuesday, the state police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said, “The suspect has been arrested and confessed to the crimes during interrogation. He is currently in our custody and will be charged in court as soon as the investigation is completed.
“The victim, on the other hand, had been taken to the hospital for medical examination after showing a psychological problem, or probably a psychiatric problem,” she added.
