Police arrest Ogun woman for stealing iPhone
A 28-year-old woman, Divine Kalu, appeared before the Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Tuesday for stealing an iPhone worth N1.6 million.
Ms Kalu, whose address was not provided, is facing a one-count charge of theft.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Thursday, at about 5:00 p.m., at Tempo Paper Pulp and Packaging, Ota.
Mr Adaraloye alleged that the defendant stole an iPhone valued at N1.6 million, belonging to Seun Obasanjo. According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The magistrate, O.O. Fadairo, granted bail to the defendant of N200, 000 with one responsible surety in like sum.
She directed that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed, providing evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.
She adjourned the case until August 24 for further hearing.
