Police arrest suspected cult members terrorising Osun communities 

The police said the suspects would be charged in court upon completion of investigation.

The police in Osun State have arrested some suspected members of secret cults terrorising the state.

This is contained in a statement by the Police Spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi on Sunday.

Mr Ojelabi stated that a notorious suspected cultist known as “small,” who was terrorising Iloro community, Ilesa town, was apprehended on Wednesday, at about 6p.m.

“He confessed to being a member of Eiye confraternity,” he said.

Mr Ojelabi added that similarly, the command’s anti-cultism unit, through intelligence, arrested suspected cultists at Sasa Area, Osogbo at about 1a.m on Friday.

He said efforts are still ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspected members of the group.

He said exhibits recovered from the suspects included one axe, one live cartridge, one blue cap with the Eye Confraternity logo and six other caps.

He said the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

He said the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, urged parents and guardians to warn their wards to shun cultism and engage in meaningful activities.
