Police arrest suspects who scattered Lagos Oba’s coronation anniversary

The police in Lagos have arrested 26 suspects over an attack at the palace of a traditional ruler.
Police spokesman in Lagos, Ben Hundeyin, on Friday, told journalists that the suspects invaded the palace of Oba Josiah Aina, the traditional ruler of Oto Awori on Thursday.
He said the monarch’s guests were also attacked by the assailants, leading to the death of a yet-to-be-identified person.
However, he said normalcy had been restored in the community.
“The command is investigating the cause of the attack,” he said.
Mr Aina’s 15th coronation anniversary was ongoing when the suspects, who were armed with weapons, stormed the palace, attacked and robbed residents and guests of their valuables.
The suspects were also alleged to have vandalised property, including vehicles, and burnt some nearby shops.
