The police command in Jigawa has arrested three suspected drug dealers and recovered over 5,500 pieces of illicit drugs during coordinated intelligence-led raids.

This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by Lawan Shiisu Adam, the command’s spokesman.

The suspects are Umar Rabiu, 22, of Unguwar Gamji; Auwalu Muhammad, 25, of Gusau Quarters; and Umar Akilu, 25, of Kuka village.

“The operations, which form part of the command’s ongoing crackdown on the sale, distribution, and abuse of illicit substances, led to the recovery of 5,676 pieces of assorted suspected illicit drugs from the suspects,” he said.

Items recovered include exol (3,833), tramadol (204), diazepam (919), pregabalin (114), rubber solution (101), lara capsules (30), codeine syrup, ‘suck and die’ (two litres), as well as one block and 475 wraps of cannabis.

The operatives also recovered N93,626, believed to be proceeds from the illicit drug trade, Mr Adam said.

He added that the suspects have been arraigned in court.
