Police arrest three suspected kidnappers, recover two firearms in Oyo

The police command in Oyo State has arrested three suspected kidnappers and recovered two firearms consisting of one single-barrel gun and one dane gun.
The command’s public relations officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Ibadan.
Mr Olayinka said the suspects were arrested following intelligence-driven and coordinated security operations in collaboration with other non-state security outfits.
He said one of the suspects had been on the command’s wanted list in connection with a previously reported case of kidnapping one Huseinat Abubakar of Gelede Camp via Komu village.
The PPRO said further investigation and interrogation of the suspect led to the arrest of two other members of the kidnapping syndicate, adding that all the suspects were from Komu village.
“A search conducted at the residence of one of the suspects led to the recovery of one single-barrel gun and one dane gun, allegedly used in the commission of the kidnapping,” he said.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, has directed that no stone be left unturned in ensuring that all fleeing members of the syndicate are arrested and diligently prosecuted.
Mr Haruna commended the professionalism and operational effectiveness of the officers involved in the operation and appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his leadership and support.
The CP lauded the collaborative efforts of members of the public and the command’s progressive partners, particularly non-state actors, whose timely information and cooperation contributed significantly to the success of the operation.
