Police arrest two suspects with locally fabricated pistols in Delta

The Delta State police command has arrested two suspected criminals, identified as Omini Ezeri and Chinedum Wagbara, and recovered two locally fabricated Beretta pistols and nine rounds of live ammunition along the Agbarho–Warri road.
Bright Edafe, the command’s spokesman, in a statement on Sunday, said the suspects were arrested on Saturday during a stop-and-search operation along the road.
He said the suspects, who are residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were intercepted while travelling in a grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV with registration number AAA 604 JZ.
“During preliminary interrogation, a third occupant of the vehicle, God Knows Ifreke, suddenly took to his heels and escaped into a nearby swamp.
“A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two locally fabricated Beretta pistols loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition, approximately 200 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine, one walkie-talkie, one dagger, one grinder, and two sophisticated phones,” he said.
Mr Edafe added that the suspects are in custody, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect.
