Police arrest vigilantes for setting suspected thief ablaze in Lagos community

The police said community members had caught a suspected thief in the act and handed him over to the vigilantes, who set him ablaze.

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested members of a vigilance group for setting a suspected thief ablaze.

The command’s public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this on his official X handle on Monday.

According to him, members of a community in the state had caught a suspected thief in the act and handed him over to the vigilantes.

The police spokesperson stated, “Minutes later, community members were shocked to find the apprehended thief being burnt alive.

“Vigilantes have been arrested and will be prosecuted. Say No to jungle justice.”
