Police capture man who cuts ear, hand, head of Ibadan man with cutlass

A man, Useim Hamadu, appeared before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Wednesday for cutting another man on the head, hand and ear.
Mr Hamadu is charged with conspiracy and causing grievous harm, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Elisha Tellang, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 25 at Elebu in Ibadan.
Mr Tellang said the defendant caused grievous harm to a man identified as Mr Isaiah by cutting his head, hand and ear with a cutlass.
He said the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by the act and, therefore, committed offences contrary to sections 516 and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The magistrate, M. Olagbenro, granted the defendant bail of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ms Olagbenro adjourned the case until June 26 for a hearing.
