The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has commended the peaceful conduct of the Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies by-elections.

Mr Aliyu also praised security personnel for their professionalism, alertness and non-partisanship while assessing security deployment during the exercise.

The commissioner gave the commendation in a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, SP Nafiu Habib, on Saturday in Bauchi.

He expressed satisfaction with the level of security deployment and the conduct of officers and men assigned to election duties.

Mr Aliyu hailed the personnel for their dedication to ensuring a peaceful, credible and hitch-free electoral exercise.

The commissioner, accompanied by some operational officers, interacted with INEC officials, election observers, party agents and voters during the assessment.

He said the command remained resolute and apolitical in protecting lives and property while providing a level playing field for all parties and candidates.

Mr Aliyu commended residents of Disina and Sakwa for maintaining peace during the exercise.

He, however, warned that the police would deal decisively with any attempt to disrupt the electoral process.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Tilde, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, commended party supporters for their peaceful and orderly conduct.

Mr Tilde spoke at Sambuwal Primary School polling unit in Disina Ward, saying no APC supporter was arrested by the police.

He described the development as evidence of the good conduct of the party’s loyalists.

The APC chairman also described the election as peaceful, free and fair.
