Police detain serial robbery suspect in Delta

The Delta police command has detained a serial armed robbery suspect in the state, the police public relations officer, Bright Edafe, has said.
Mr Edafe disclosed this in Warri on Wednesday.
He said that the suspect was caught at the Otor Uweku axis of Ughelli Town by the operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team on Sunday.
He also said that the suspect was nabbed, following credible intelligence and coordinated surveillance.
“The team caught the suspect, linked to a series of robberies within Warri metropolis.
“During interrogation, the suspect led operatives to a bush in the Jedo area of Warri, where a locally made gun concealed in the ground was recovered.
“The suspect confessed to being a member of the Aye Confraternity and admitted his involvement in several door-to-door robbery incidents within Warri,” Mr Edafe said.
He said that effort was on to apprehend other members of the criminal gang identified during the investigation.
