Police don’t have enough vehicles, officers to tackle criminals: Owo Monarch

Ajibade Ogunoye, the Olowo of Owo in Ondo, has bemoaned inadequate operational vehicles and police operatives in Owo.

“The major challenge facing police operations in Owo is the lack of vehicles and personnel. They don’t have vehicles to mobilise to crime scenes and for quick movement,” said Mr Ogunoye. “Also, the number of personnel here is inadequate considering the fact that Owo is a big city.”

The monarch spoke on Wednesday during a condolence visit of Yusuf Akeera, the new assistant inspector general of police in charge of Zone 17. Mr Akeera assumed duty on Monday.

On June 5, bandits massacred at least 40 St. Francis Catholic Church worshippers during a mass.

“As I often say, they are not human beings, and they don’t worth human existence,” stated Mr Ogunoye. “I know that the Nigeria Police is very professional, and when they set out to do an assignment, the results will be so certain. I know that very soon, the full wrath of the law will catch up with them (the attackers).

According to Mr Akeera, police are carrying out investigations to apprehend the killers.
