Police hunt abductors of 60-year-old Ibadan building materials trader

The police command in Oyo State said a 60-year-old building materials trader was abducted on Saturday, along Jinarere axis, Alakia Road in Ibadan.
The command’s spokesman, Ayanlade Olayinka, said in a statement that the male victim was accosted at about 8:47 pm while returning from work.
Mr Olayinka said the victim was whisked away by four masked gunmen in an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla.
“There was a case of abduction reported on 2nd May 2026 at about 2047hrs from the Monatan area of Ibadan,” Mr Olayinka said.
“Preliminary information reveals that the victim, a 60-year-old male and building materials trader, was accosted while returning home along the Jinarere axis of Alakia Road by four masked armed men, who forcefully whisked him away in an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla vehicle,” he said.
Responding to the incident, the spokesman said police operatives visited the scene and promptly activated necessary measures to rescue the victim and apprehend the perpetrators.
“Efforts are ongoing, and the command wishes to assure the public that all available resources are being deployed to secure the safe rescue of the victim and bring those responsible to justice,” Mr Olayinka said.
