The police command in Bauchi says it has arrested two male suspects in connection with alleged sexual abuse involving minors in Tilden Fulani, Toro LGA of the state.

This was noted in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, on Thursday in Bauchi.

He said that the incident was reported on January 8, at about 9:30 p.m. at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Tilden Fulani in the Toro LGA.

“The complainant alleged that his eight-year-old son was lured by one of the suspects and subjected to repeated sexual abuse,” he said

According to him, upon receiving the complaint, the police immediately deployed detectives to the area, leading to the arrest of a 16-year-old suspect.

“The victim was promptly taken to a medical facility for examination and care.

“During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed and mentioned another individual, aged 17, who was subsequently arrested,” he said

He revealed that the suspects had been involved in similar acts over a period of time, adding that several other minors between the ages of seven and 10 years were allegedly affected.

The police said that both suspects are currently in custody and have made statements as investigations continue.

“They will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations,” he said

The spokesperson expressed concern over the incident and warned against acts of sexual abuse, stressing that the command will not tolerate crimes against children.

He also urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their wards’ activities and whereabouts to prevent such incidents.
