The police command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in collaboration with other security agencies in the FCT, has inaugurated the second phase of a special anti-crime operation, codenamed ‘Operation G-7’.

A statement by the command’s spokeswoman, DSP Josephine Adeh, on Wednesday in Abuja said the operation was inaugurated to combat violent crimes in the FCT and other neighbouring states.

“The second phase, which is a product of assessment of performance of the first phase, will engender improved inter-agency collaboration, proactive crime prevention and law enforcement activities,” said the FCT command. “It will also engender dedicated spirit on the part of the security community to keep the FCT and its neighbouring states safe and secured.”

The police commissioner in charge of the FCT command, Babaji Sunday, said the special operation was necessary to ensure a hitch-free Yuletide.

According to the statement, the operation started yielding results with the arrest of three suspects over a kidnap at Kasanki village in the Gwagwalada area on Monday.

“The arrest was made possible following an intelligence-led operation by the operatives of Operation G7. The operatives stormed a suspected criminal camp at Gulida village, a border community with Abaji Area Council, at about 04:00hrs on Dec. 13 and arrested the suspects with some exhibits,” said the police.

The command urged its operatives to do their best to ensure that criminal elements were not allowed to operate in FCT and urged residents to trust and support the police with credible and timely information through 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883.

The police statement said the Public Complaint Bureau (PCB) desk could be reached on 09022222352.
