Police investigate attack on former AGF Malami in Kebbi

The police command in Kebbi has begun an investigation into the reported attack on the convoy of former attorney general Abubakar Malami in Birnin Kebbi.
Mr Malami’s convoy was attacked on Monday while returning from a condolence visit in the state capital.
Mr Malami resigned from the All Progressives Congress on July 2 and later joined the African Democratic Congress.
Following an emergency security meeting with security chiefs, police commissioner Bello Sani confirmed that no arrests had been made.
“We have commenced an investigation into the attack, and no arrest has been made yet. The governor convened this meeting to review security developments,” Mr Sani said.
He added that incidents had occurred around the GRA area involving members of political parties, linked to breaches of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s campaign regulations.
The police chief stated that leaders of political parties would be summoned and cautioned against further violations of electoral guidelines. He stated that the measures were intended to prevent further violence.
Mr Sani urged political leaders to remain calm and sustain peace and stability in Kebbi.
