The Bauchi state police command said it neutralised two bandits in Gwana district, Alkaleri Local Government Area.

The command spokesman, CSP Ahmed Wakil, told journalists on Wednesday in Bauchi that operatives of the command also recovered arms during the operation.

He said that operatives of the command attached to the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters conducted tactical operations in collaboration with hunters to enhance security in the Gwana District and surrounding border regions with Taraba, Plateau and Gombe states.

He said that the team encountered suspected bandits during surveillance in the Dajin Madan Forest and neutralised two while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The spokesman said the police recovered one AK-49 rifle and nine rounds of live ammunition.

While reiterating the commitment of the command to protect lives and property, Mr Wakil urged residents of the state to report suspicious movements and activities to the police.
