Police nab 147 suspected criminals in Lagos

The Lagos State police command has arrested 147 suspected criminals and recovered 250 expended cartridges, 22 machetes and substances suspected to be Indian hemp during raids on criminal hideouts across the state.
According to a statement on Monday by Abimbola Adebisi, the command’s spokesperson, the operatives targeted criminal hideouts across the state on Sunday, July 19, 2026.
“On Sunday, 19th July, 2026, at about 5:30 a.m., acting on credible intelligence, a joint team of operatives drawn from different formations of the Command carried out a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo, and other identified black spots the state,” she said.
She said the operation was aimed at flushing out hoodlums and other criminal elements terrorising the area.
Ms Adebisi said 147 suspects were arrested during the operation, while exhibits recovered included 250 expended cartridges, two knives, one lighter, five battle axes, one pair of scissors, assorted charms, 22 machetes, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
She added that all the suspects are in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine their individual culpability.
The spokesperson warned that those found to have committed criminal offences would be prosecuted accordingly.
