The Bauchi State police command says it arrested a 19-year old woman, Aisha Musa, who allegedly attempted to poison her husband to death, in Gwamma Village.

This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by Nafiu Habib, the command’s spokesperson in the state.

“Accordingly, on 12th August, 2026 at about 1515hrs, the suspect, who is said to be a bride of about 40 days, allegedly introduced a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal,” he said.

He stated that at about 7:40 p.m on the same day, a distress call was received from an anonymous lady residing at Wunti Dada Area, Bauchi, reporting the incident to the Police.

Mr Habib added that officers of ‘C’ Division Tafawa Balewa Estate were mobilized to the scene, noting that the victim was immediately evacuated and rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.

According to him, the victim is currently receiving medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.

“The suspect was promptly apprehended. During interrogation, she was cautioned and voluntarily made a confessional statement admitting to the commission of the offence.

“In addition, an empty bottle suspected to contain poison and remnants of the food were recovered and duly registered as exhibits,” he said.
