Police nab 72-year-old for sexual assault of six-year-old girl

The Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 72-year-old man, Patrick Ukpenor, in prison custody for sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl.
Magistrate E. Kubrinhe remanded Mr Ukpebor in Kirikiri Correctional Centre’s custody, where he will be until his August 13 trial.
The court did not take MrUkpenor’s plea after the charge was read.
The prosecutor, Insp John Iberedem, told the court that Mr Ukpenor committed the offence on July 4 at Amutu Street, Ilasamaja, Lagos.
Mr Iberedem submitted that the septuagenarian sexually assaulted the six-year-old girl.
Sexual assault attracts three years in prison, while sexual assault by penetration is punishable with life imprisonment if convicted.
