Police nab eight suspects over alleged possession of drugs in Maiduguri

The Borno State police command says it arrested eight suspects for alleged possession and consumption of prohibited substances in the Bulumkutu and Dala areas of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.
In a statement on Tuesday, Nahum Daso, the command’s spokesperson, said the arrest was part of efforts against drug abuse, illicit drug trafficking, and other social vices across the state.
“On 1st June, 2026, at about 1420hrs, the RRS Anti-Social Vices Team conducted a targeted raid operation in the Bulumkutu and Dala areas of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), leading to the arrest of eight (8) suspects for alleged possession and consumption of prohibited substances,” he said.
He further stated that 46 capsules of Tramadol, 12 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and two D5 tablets were recovered from the suspects.
“The suspects have been charged in court, while the recovered exhibits have been tendered as evidence,” he said.
