Police nab four for criminal conspiracy

The police command in Niger, on Wednesday, said it has arrested four suspects for alleged criminal conspiracy and causing grievous hurt.
On December 24, 2025, a report was received from the Kpakungu division, which indicated that at about 6:30 p.m., a member of the vigilante was attacked by some thugs, said a statement by the police spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, in Minna.
He said that the thugs had disarmed the vigilante of his locally made gun and cutlass, inflicted injuries on him, and warned him to desist from arresting their cohorts in the community.
“Operatives from the police division immediately commenced investigation on receipt of the complaint, and on December 30, 2025, at about 2:00 a.m., the suspects were arrested,” he said.
Mr Abiodun said that one of the suspects was arrested in his residence, and a sharp knife, two scissors, and packs of suspected cannabis were found.
He said that the suspect confessed to the crime and identified his accomplices, who were also arrested, with the exception of one other currently at large.
The command’s spokesperson said that the case was transferred to the anti-thuggery unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Minna, and after investigation, the suspects were charged in court.
