In a statement on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspect was arrested on October 1, 2026.

According to the police, the victim was beheaded, while his new Bajaj motorcycle was stolen by the assailant.

Mr Abiodun said the suspect confessed to his involvement in the crime, adding that the stolen motorcycle and a cutlass were recovered from him.

He said efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing accomplices and bring them to justice.

The spokesperson added that the suspect was being held at the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) as investigations continued to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
