Police nab Niger man for defiling minor

Zailani Suleiman, a 37-year-old resident of Angwan-Sarki Hausawa, Tungan-Mallam, has been arrested for defiling a 17-year-old girl in Paiko LGA.
This was confirmed by the police spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, on Thursday, who said the suspect lured the victim on May 4, 2026, and gave her a substance to inhale, which made her unconscious.
“On 4th May 2026 at about 12.30pm, a report received in Paiko Div indicated that one Zailani Suleiman, 37 years of Angwan-Sarki Hausawa Tungan-Mallam ward, lured a female victim of 17 years of Angwan-Fulani Paiko, and had carnal knowledge of her without consent,” he said.
Mr Abiodun added that the suspect lured the victim and gave her a substance to inhale, which made her unconscious.
“He later had unlawful sexual intercourse with the victim. The suspect was arrested, and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention,” he stated.
He stated that the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Minna for further investigation and prosecution.
