Police nab officers posing as Vikings cultists, to face orderly room trial

The police command in Imo will on Monday commence an orderly room trial for three of its operatives captured in a viral video wearing two berets and a cap with the emblem of the Vikings confraternity.
In a statement on Saturday, a spokesperson for the command, Henry Okoye, said the suspects who are now in police custody include Inspector Obinna Peter, Corporal Amaechi Augustine, and Corporal Ejikeme Victor, although the video showed more officers were involved.
“Further to the directive of the commissioner of police, Imo state command, CP Aboki Danjuma, ordering a thorough investigation into the viral video showing officers engaged in unprofessional conduct, the command wishes to provide the following update.
“The officers have been arrested and are presently in detention, while the command has commenced a thorough investigation into their alleged involvement in cultism and other related activities.
“Consequently, an orderly room trial has been scheduled to commence on Monday,” said the statement.
The command reiterated that the conduct by the officers, one of whom was seen in the video, shooting sporadically into the air, was unprofessional and did not reflect the discipline, ethics, and values of the police.
