Police nab seven robbery suspects in Minna

The police command in Niger says it has arrested seven suspects for robbery and thuggery activities in Minna.
The command made this known in Minna on Wednesday, in a statement by its public relations officer (PRO), SP Wasiu Abiodun.
According to him, the police surveillance team attached to the Tudun-Wada division had intercepted two suspects on a motorcycle during a stop-and-search around the Western bye-pass on November 17, at about 9 p.m.
He said that the suspects, aged 18 and 20, were arrested in the Texaco area of Maitumbi, Minna.
According to him, they were subjected to an on-the-spot search, and in the process, a locally made gun was recovered.
“During interrogation, they could not give a satisfactory account of themselves and were suspected of robbing members of the public along the bypass.
“Meanwhile, further investigation is ongoing and they will soon be transferred to SCID Minna,” he said
The PRO said that in another development, police operatives attached to the Central Police division in Minna, also carried out a sting operation on November 14, in some identified black spots around Sayako, Tudun-Natsira, Abdul Salam quarters, Baida, adding that five suspects were arrested.
He said that the suspects were arrested with illicit drug substances, as well as a sharp knife.
According to the PRO, all suspects were charged to court for criminal conspiracy, thuggery and being in possession of dangerous weapons as well as illicit substances.
