Police nab suspected armed robber in Ogun

The Nigeria Police, Ogun Command, on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of a suspected armed robber (name withheld), while on his way to rob at Onipanu area in Sango-Ota.
The Command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, made this known in a statement in Ota.
Mr Oyeyemi said that the suspect was arrested on Tuesday when CSP Bamidele Job, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), and his men, were on routine patrol.
He said that when the suspect on an unregistered Bajaj Motorcycle, immediately sighted the policemen, he abandoned the motorcycle and took to his heels.
According to him, following a hot chase by the patrol team led by the DPO, the suspect was arrested.
“The small bag with him was searched and a cut to size locally made pistol with 10 live cartridges was recovered from him.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed being an armed robber, and that he was on his way to carry out an operation before he was apprehended,” he said.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
