Police nab suspected notorious armed robber in Kano

The police command in Kano has arrested Abba Aliyu, a 26‑year‑old resident of Dala Quarters, for armed robbery.

The arrest followed a prompt response to an armed robbery report at Hausawa Quarters on Sunday, following which a sharp knife was recovered from the suspect, said the police in a statement on Sunday.

During interrogation, Mr Aliyu confessed to multiple armed robberies and rivalry ‘Daba’ fights in Gobirawa Gangare, Dala, Tudun Fulani Mayanka Quarters, according to the police.

The suspect further admitted involvement in a series of armed robberies that resulted in deaths, injuries, and loss of property across Kano, Lagos, and Rivers, said the statement.

The command stated that the investigation was ongoing and that the case would be charged to court upon completion of the file.

The police commissioner Ibrahim  Bakori commended the officers for the notable arrest.

He urged the public to continue cooperating with the police by reporting any suspicious movements and activities through the command’s emergency numbers: 08032419754, 08123821575, 09029292926, via the NPF Rescue Me App, or to the nearest station.
