The Lagos police command said it arrested a suspected armed robber identified as Olajunja Samson and recovered a locally made pistol and charms in Igando area of the state.

A statement on Wednesday by Abimbola Adebisi, the spokesperson for the command, said the suspect was arrested after police officers sighted a motorcycle conveying three persons behaving suspiciously.

“On sighting the police, the suspects attempted to flee. One of the suspects, Olajunja Segun Samson ‘m’ 29 years, was apprehended, while the two other suspects escaped, abandoning the motorcycle,” she said.

She said a search of the suspect and the abandoned motorcycle led to the recovery of one locally fabricated pistol and assorted charms.

“The suspect is currently in Police custody while efforts are being intensified to apprehend the fleeing accomplices. Investigation into the case is ongoing,” Ms Adebisi said.

The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism.

He reassured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to tackling violent crimes.
