The Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Thursday ordered that an unemployed man, Mustapha Abass, be remanded in prison custody for murder.

The police charged Mr Abass with conspiracy and murder.

Magistrate Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti did not take the plea of Mr Abass for want in jurisdiction.

She directed the police to return the case file to the director of public prosecutions for legal advice and adjourned the case until June 15 for DPP advice.

Prosecution counsel Philip Amusan told the court that the accused and others at large committed the crime on March 31, at about 5:00 a.m, in the Odo-Aro area, Oyo town.

The police also disclosed that Mr Abass caused the death of 30-year-old Oluwafemi Alabi when he cut off his right-hand wrist.
