The Ebonyi State Police Command says it has commenced investigating into the alleged murder of 23-year-old Caroline Agama by suspected ritualists.

The command’s spokesman, SP Joshua Ukandu, disclosed this to journalists on Friday, while confirming the incident, which occurred sometime in March.

Mr Ukandu said that the command’s Anti-kidnap Unit had taken over the matter to fish out the perpetrators of the crime.

The father of the deceased, Dennis Agama, said that his daughter was gruesomely murdered by some suspected ritualists in the state.

Narrating the incident to journalists, Mr Agama said his daughter suddenly disappeared from their home on March 26.

He said, “We combed bushes and searched the entire community to no avail until two days later, when her lifeless body was found on Iboko Road in the Izzi LGA of the state.”

The octogenarian alleged that the deceased was lured through a phone call by her killers, “who, perhaps needed a virgin for their evil act.”

He said that her phone was not only seized but switched off by the suspects to disconnect her until they had carried out their nefarious act.

“Caroline Ndidiamaka is my only daughter and before the incident, she was about to sit for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination at the Jordan Secondary School, Ndiebor Ishiagu Community,” Mr Agama said.

He called for justice and government’s intervention in the alleged murder of her daughter.

The deceased’s brother, Christopher, expressed worry at the manner his sister was killed by her assailants who, he said, cut off her tongue and private parts.

He said, “During the search in the evening of March 28, a male caller contacted me with the late Caroline’s number and claimed that my sister’s phone was picked up at Iboko Market Square.

“But when I wanted to make an arrangement on how to retrieve the phone, the man suddenly resorted to deceit.”

Christopher appealed to the relevant authorities to help the family uncover those behind the crime and ensure justice.
