Police probe murder of retired OGTV broadcaster, security guard in Ogun apartment

The police have launched an investigation into the deaths of retired broadcaster with state television. Ogun State Television, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard at Iyana Agodo Village, Kobape, Abeokuta.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement in Abeokuta on Sunday.
According to the police spokesperson, the incident was reported at the Owode Egba Police Division on Sunday after a resident raised the alarm over suspicious activities at the residence.
Mr Babaseyi said detectives deployed to the scene found signs of forced entry.
He noted that the security guard’s body was discovered at the security post, while Ms Oyesiku’s body was found inside her apartment.
He added that the victim’s vehicle was missing from the premises, while preliminary investigations had commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to him, the state Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, had ordered a comprehensive investigation and directed detectives to identify and apprehend those responsible.
Mr Babaseyi said surveillance and intelligence-led operations had been intensified, assuring residents that efforts would be made to ensure justice.
He also commiserated with the families of the deceased, the OGTV community and the media, urging members of the public to remain calm and provide useful information to aid the investigation.
It was gathered that suspected gunmen on Sunday stormed the residence of Ms Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” and murdered her in cold blood.
The late broadcaster was well known in the media circle, having worked with OGTV before her retirement.
