Police recover stolen cattle, nab suspects in Bauchi

The Bauchi State police command has arrested two suspected cattle rustlers identified as Umaru Adamu and Haruna Usman in the Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.

The state police spokesman, Nafiu Habib, said in a statement on Monday that the two stolen cattle were found in possession of the suspects on July, 19, 2026 at about 2: 00 p.m. 

“Acting on credible intelligence, arrested Umaru Adamu alias Balawo, male, 40-years-old and Haruna Usman alias Dotti, male, 30-years-old, both of Dawo Village, Kwami LGA, Gombe State, on 19th July 2026 at about 1400hrs,” he said.  

He said that the cattle valued at N1, 730, 000. 00 suspected to have been stolen were found with the suspects .  

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects obtained the cattle from two suspects, now at large and of the same address, who are believed to be habitual rustlers terrorizing communities along the Gombe and Bauchi State axis,” Mr Habib.  

Mr Habib said that the suspects were currently in custody, adding that the case was under investigation.

He added that the recovered cattle had been secured as exhibits.
