Police recover stolen vehicle, nab suspect

The Akwa Ibom State police command said it arrested a suspect and recovered a stolen vehicle at Akpasak Estate, Uyo.
The disclosure was made in a statement on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, Timfon John.
She said, “The breakthrough followed a report of a stolen vehicle received through the Control Room on 13 August 2026, after the vehicle was reportedly stolen at Akpasak Estate, Uyo.”
She stated that the state Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, directed relevant investigative and operational units to immediately commence efforts aimed at tracing the vehicle and apprehending those responsible.
“Acting on the directive, detectives deployed technology-driven investigative techniques on the stolen vehicle. The sustained efforts eventually led operatives to Delta State on 27 August 2026, where the vehicle was located,” Ms John said.
She added that the operation resulted in the arrest of one Bright Okon, male, an employee of a private security company, found in possession of the stolen vehicle.
“The vehicle, identified as a Ford, was subsequently recovered and brought to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for further investigation,” she said.
According to her, the command has commenced discreet and comprehensive investigations into the circumstances surrounding the theft, movement and possession of the vehicle.
She added that efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected criminal network.
