Police summon DPO over alleged extortion of motorists in Cross River

The Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja has summoned an officer and a divisional police officer attached to the Cross River State Police Command.
The NPF complaint response unit said in a post on X on Sunday that the officers were summoned for disciplinary action after the officer was captured in a video, extorting motorists in Boki East.
The short video showed the officer who had mounted a roadblock, collecting a N500 note from a motorcycle rider, who in turn, received a N200 note from him, while the occupant took the video.
Responding to the incident in the video shared by @AsakyGRN on Saturday, the NPF-CRU said, “The force high command has sent for the DPO and officer seen in this viral video to report to the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, for disciplinary actions accordingly. #NoToImpunity.”
