Police to announce new Force PRO as Adejobi redeployed to Delta command

The Nigeria Police Force has said arrangements are underway for the announcement of a new Force public relations officer following the redeployment of Olumuyiwa Adejobi to Delta State command as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations.
Mr Adejobi’s reassignment was approved by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, who said the move underscored confidence in the spokesman’s “wealth of experience, professionalism, and capacity to further strengthen operational strategies” at the state level.
In a Wednesday night statement signed by Mr Adejobi, Mr Egbetokun commended the outgoing FPRO for his service as Force PRO, describing his contributions to strengthening the image and communication strategy of the police as “remarkable.”
The redeployment nonetheless comes against a backdrop of controversy.
Mr Adejobi, who often sparred with citizens and journalists online, was known for launching personal attacks on critics, particularly on X (formerly Twitter).
He also consistently defended police excesses and institutional impunity, including the prolonged tenure of former Inspector-General Usman Alkali Baba and that of the current police chief, Mr Egbetokun.
Mr Adejobi is expected to assume duties at the Delta State command immediately, while his successor as Force spokesman will be unveiled in the coming days.
