Police to arraign angry father for assaulting young son

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested one Odukaye Kunle, for physically abusing his young son, Boluwatife, during a moment of anger.
Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Saturday, said the suspect would be prosecuted on Monday, for assaulting the young boy.
The suspect, a resident in Popoola Street, Oko Baale, Ado Odo Ota, was seen in a viral video shared by @AsakulaA, on X, on Friday, angrily kicking the leg of his son who had walked up to him for an embrace. The effect of the kick made the child hit his head on the floor.
The reason for his anger had yet to be ascertained but related to an altercation with the crowd present at the scene.
The police said, “Update on Ogun Child Abuse: Odukaye Kunle, the father who brutalised his son, Boluwatife, in Otta area, Ogun State, has just been arrested by the police. The mother of the boy (Rashedat) and the boy will be taken to our police medical centre otta for further medical assessment and attention. The OC Medical, Ogun State has been ordered to proceed to otta on this mission. Kunle will be charged to court on Monday,”
The statement commended the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team for their commitment in ensuring justice for the boy.
