Poland’s WB Group, a major European defence manufacturer, says it is open to transferring technology and establishing manufacturing facilities in Nigeria to deepen defence cooperation and strengthen the country’s security capabilities.

Patryk Stec, product manager at WB Group, said this in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of the just-concluded Africa International Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX) 2026 in Lagos.

Mr Stec said the company was exploring opportunities to work with the Nigerian government, military and other relevant institutions to provide advanced defence technologies tailored to the country’s security needs.

He said Nigeria’s strategic position in Africa made it an important partner for the company’s expansion into the African defence market.

“We are open to technology transfer, and as long as there is business, there is always the possibility of establishing manufacturing facilities,” he said.

Mr Stec said the company had maintained a global presence across Europe, Asia and the Americas and was now seeking to expand its engagement with African countries.

He said he was optimistic that discussions with Nigerian defence and security stakeholders would lead to productive partnerships in the coming years.

According to him, the company’s engagement in Nigeria includes discussions with the Minister of Defence, the director-general of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and the Chief of Defence Staff.

Mr Stec described WB Group as a major Polish manufacturer of military equipment, with more than three decades of experience in developing advanced defence technologies.

He said its product portfolio included unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) systems, communication platforms, remotely operated weapon systems and border protection technologies.

Highlighting the company’s products, Mr Stec said its FlyEye reconnaissance drone and Warmate 3 loitering munition were among its systems designed to support surveillance and precision strikes.

He said the FlyEye could conduct aerial reconnaissance and monitor areas of interest, while the Warmate system could engage targets identified during surveillance operations.

According to him, the systems have been deployed in several countries, including Ukraine, where the technology was used before Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Mr Stec said the combination of reconnaissance and strike capabilities could improve situational awareness and support operational decision-making.

He also highlighted the ZMU-05 remotely operated weapon station, which could be mounted on vehicles and controlled remotely.

Mr Stec said WB Group also developed integrated communication systems that connect different communication platforms used by security agencies.

He explained that the technology could enable organisations using systems such as Motorola, TETRA and Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) to communicate through an integrated platform.

Mr Stec said the technology could distinguish between people, vehicles and aerial objects, including low-flying drones, helicopters and aircraft.

He said the system could provide information over long distances, helping security personnel identify threats early and deploy resources more effectively.

According to him, early detection and identification could save time, reduce resource wastage and limit the exposure of security personnel to danger.

MR Stec said the company is ready to work with Nigerian partners to explore solutions that address existing and emerging security challenges.
