Polish envoy hails NAF, says Nigeria stabilising force in West Africa

The Polish ambassador to Nigeria, Michał Cygan, says Nigeria remains a stabilising force in West Africa due to the sustained efforts of its military, particularly the Nigerian Air Force, in counter-insurgency and regional security operations.
Mr Cygan stated this during a courtesy visit to the chief of the air staff, Sunday Aneke, at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters in Abuja.
He commended the professionalism and resilience of the military, noting that Nigeria’s strategic role and security engagements contribute significantly to peace and stability in the sub-region.
The envoy also expressed Poland’s interest in strengthening bilateral defence cooperation with Nigeria, especially in practical areas that support counter-insurgency and capacity development.
Mr Aneke stressed the importance of international partnerships in tackling contemporary and asymmetric security threats.
He added that NAF remained open to mutually beneficial collaborations that enhance operational effectiveness, training and information sharing.
The discussions during the visit centred on defence diplomacy and expanding cooperation to support the Nigerian Air Force’s ongoing operations across the country.
