Port Harcourt skit maker arrested for killing girlfriend in suspected yahoo-yahoo ritual
A Port Harcourt-based skit maker, Damian Collins, known by the name Ai Damien on Facebook, was arrested on Wednesday in Rivers State for the killing of his girlfriend Otuene Justina Nkang.
Ms Nkang was said to be doing her Industrial Training at the Prestige Special Hospital in Dline, Port Harcourt, before she was declared missing three days ago after leaving her place of work.
Witnesses say Ms Nkang came to visit Mr Collins, who later brutally slaughtered the victim, a 300-level student at the University of Port Harcourt, and cut off her breast, eyes and other body parts.
Mr Collins had kept the mutilated corpse in his apartment for three days, but was apprehended by Estate security while he was trying to dispose of the corpse wrapped in a polythene bag.
“Otuene Justina Nkang was reported to be missing for four days ago. She was a 300 level student of Biological Chemistry at Uniport but unfortunately, she was killed by her boyfriend who tried disposing of her body this evening (Wednesday) but was caught. The suspect has been handed over to the police,” a source told Daily Trust.
It was gathered that the suspect was also known to be allegedly involved in online fraud, locally known as “yahoo yahoo” and other ritual activities.
Reacting to the crime on the X platform on Thursday, the Nigeria Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said that, “The CP Rivers is handling this, and he will soon speak to it. It’s certain there will be justice.”
When Peoples Gazette reached out to the Rivers Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko, on Thursday, she promised to call back, but didn’t respond to subsequent calls as at the time of filing this report.
