Portable says his goal in music is to win Grammy

Controversial street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, professionally known as Portable, says that his ultimate goal is to win the Grammys.
Portable, 29, made the bold claim during an interview with popular content creator, Timi Agbaje.
The ‘Zazu’ crooner said his aspiration is to win the ‘Best Artiste in Africa’ at the prestigious annual music awards event organised by the Recording Academy.
He said to feel fulfilled, he has to win the ‘Best Artiste in Africa’ award, which is currently an non-existing category in the Grammy.
He cited that his nickname ‘Ika of Africa’ carried some weight to pull the strings.
“That thing I’d want to do that’ll make me truly fulfilled is to win a Grammy. I want to win the category of ‘Best Artiste in Africa’. Best artiste o! Number 1!! That Ika of Africa, I want to use the title to collect that award,” he said.
He also stressed that he was done winning local awards, adding that other musicians bagging international awards were not better than him.
“If I don’t collect an award, ah!!! International award o! Not all those local awards they sell up and down. You know the industry has caucus but destiny has no competition.”
“But if they said we should compete? What do they sing?,” he asked.
In July 2022, Portable was nominated in the “Street Artiste of The Year” category at the Headies award, mostly referred to by some people as the Nigerian version of Grammy.
He was subsequently disqualified by the organisers after threatening to kill co-nominees if he failed to win the category.
