POS operator jailed 12 months for cheating

The Dei-Dei Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja, on Thursday, sentenced a 28-year-old Post Of Sale (POS) operator, Chibisi Nwajiwe, to 12 months in prison for cheating another of N50,000.
The judge, Saminu Suleiman, sentenced the convict of Area 1, Garki, Abuja, after she pleaded not guilty to the charge of cheating against her.
Mr Suleiman sentenced the convict with an option of a N50,000 fine.
The prosecutor, J.S. Antiko, told the court that the complainant, Uwota Ekele, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station.
He said the convict deceived the complainant into transferring N50,000 to her account using her Opay ATM, but the complainant did not receive the money.
He said during a police investigation, the convict confessed to committing the offences.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened section 322 of the Penal Code.
