POS operator to sweep court premises for 40 days

A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday ordered 22-year-old point-of-sale operator Janet Vincent to sweep the court premises for 40 days for stealing N250,000.
The magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, sentenced Ms Vincent after she pleaded guilty to stealing.
Mr Emmanuel said the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others. He warned the convict to desist from committing any crime after serving her punishment.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Leo Chidi, told the court that the convict committed the offence on October 5 at Ungwan Maigero Karji in Kaduna.
Mr Chidi said the convict stole money her employer gave her for a POS transaction. He said the offence contravened the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
