Ronaldo won his fifth player of the month award shortly after his return to Manchester United.

Cristiano Ronaldo was Friday named English Premier League player of the month for September.

Ronaldo won his fifth player of the month award shortly after his return to Manchester United.

He edged out Manchester City’s defender Joao Cancelo, Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger, Allan Saint-Maximin of Newcastle, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Watford’s Ismaila Sarr.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored five goals in six appearances for the Red Devils in September.

Reacting to the news, Ronaldo appreciated his team and teammates, tweeting that he was proud to be awarded “among so many great players in the Premier League.”
